The 40 Days for Life was launched in Texas in 2004 to promote fasting and prayer as the only true means to end abortion in our world. We are also trying to raise awareness about this injustice. Today, this initiative takes place in 170 cities across North America. This year, for the first time, Canadian cities - Toronto and Ottawa - are involved.
In Ottawa, there will be a constant vigil near the Morgentaler Clinic in downtown, from 24 September until 2 November. This exercise is not a political gesture, but rather an act of faith. We want to implore the Almighty to convert hearts so that people develop a greater respect for life. The existence of abortion in our society stems from a spiritual problem: the devaluation of human beings. Since it derives from a spiritual problem, abortion also requires a spiritual solution. Without the grace of God, he can not defeat evil, so we must rely on God.
often among people of good will, we talk about being in solidarity with the weak and marginalized. But it is rare, even among Christians, this solidarity extended to unborn children. Because these victims are hidden, because the violence committed against them is not disseminated in the media, we forget more easily. In our society, these victims do not count. On several occasions in the Gospels, Jesus has granted a request by the faith of the speaker. He said "everyone who asks receives, who seeks finds, to him who knocks it open."
We are not here, for cons to "confront". It is a journey of faith. There is no debate, we bear witness. This is not about votes, surveys, or public relations. It is a question to fight evil with all the grace and spiritual weapons that God has given us.
The "40 days" are a perfect way to introduce newcomers to fight for the lives of unborn children. It is not necessary to know all the arguments and all the tactics of our opponents.

There will be a rally starting campaign on Tuesday, September 23, between 19:00 and 21:00 on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Then there will be a procession with lanterns, and, in conclusion, speeches at the vigil site.
